Learning to be a parent will be a lifelong journey. We constantly have parents eager to receive tools, tips and support towards parenting. Below are some of our favorite resources for parents, many of which our clinical team utilizes in treatment:
Good Inside by Dr. Becky: One of the most trusted modern voices in parenting, Dr. Becky’s book and podcast have both been an incredible resource for both parents and providers.
If you only have a few minutes, check out her Ted Talk.
Doctor Jacque has short, bite-sized YouTube videos covering a wide range of parenting topics, specifically for parents of kids with Anxiety and ADHD, some of which include:
Conquering Child Anxiety: Doctor’s Tips for Eating, Sleep & School
Surprisingly Easy Ways to Get Parents to Listen without Yelling
Help Children with ADHD Focus and Deal with Distractions
“Siblings Without Rivalry” by Adele Farber and Elaine Mazlish
The title is self-explanatory. If your children are arguing and you don’t know how to proceed, this book is a fantastic resource.
“The Kissing Hand” by Audrey Penn
This is a short storybook for kids who are transitioning back into school; it’s a great before-bed read as the school year, or any transition, begins. It’s available in paperback or audio, attached through the link above.
“The Invisible String” by Patrice Karst
This short storybook is a great resource for kids experiencing separation anxiety. Use this book as a resource for your child if they’re dealing with anxiety.
We hope these resources can be beneficial for you and your family and will continue to share resources we’ve found beneficial within our treatment. For more support, connect with a member of Decade2Connect today.
